Actor turned producer Kim Nam Gil added to his Busan International Film Festival schedule ['Ensemble'] a gala night for Korean Cinema Retrospective honoring the masculine icon of Korean Film Shin Young-kyun.

Starring in more than 300 films, actor Shin Young-kyun has made remarkable achievements in Korean Film. The screening of eight of his films provides the Busan International Film Festival the opportunity to present the fever of his hit films.
Shin Young-kyun was the legendary iconic figure from the 1960s and 1970s of Korea with his charismatic and versatile acting. Making his debut with A widow(1960), he has appeared in more than 300 films that include Red Scarf(1964), Prince Yeonsan(1961), Evergreen Tree(1961) and Love Me Once Again(1968). He is a diversified actor in any role – from a farmhand to a king that encompasses genres such as historical dramas, war films, action films and melodrama. Until he retired with his 317th film Flowers and Birds(1978), he became the epitome of the Korean Masculinity; his influence remains phenomenal in the sphere of Korean film.
Having established close ties with the Busan International Film Festival in 2001, the French luxury brand Hermès Korea, the sponsor of ‘Korean Cinema Retrospective’ presents the Director’s Chair at the ‘Korean Cinema Retrospective Night’ each year. The Director’s Chair was designed by Rena Dumas, wife of Louis Dumas (former president of Hermès).
